“Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good! His faithful love endures forever.” 1 Chronicles 16:34
When the Ark of the Lord’s Covenant was brought to Jerusalem there was a great celebration. David wrote a song of praise. There was so much rejoicing. It is recorded that David danced with joy and he even wrote the song of praise and thanksgiving in I Chronicles 16. The Ark of the Lord’s Covenant represents the presence of the Lord. David’s song was about God’s greatness, wonderful deeds, honor and majesty. He wrote many psalms with the expressions that, the Lord was his strength and song; who gave him victory as he spent time in His presence. What an encouragement to us to praise God at all times regardless of our circumstances!
It was normal for Daniel to spend time in the presence of the Lord, seeking His face. His identity was in God and no matter what he faced, he sought God for deliverance. He worked in the government of king Darius with excellence. The other officials could not find any fault in his governance, so they set him up by attacking his faith. Daniel did not go to human resources (HR), he immediately went home and reached out to God (his best Source) in prayer. While in the lion’s den, the presence of the Lord was imminent and he was powerfully delivered.
Daniel’s challenges were related to his workplace. His colleagues were jealous of his success. Does this sound familiar? His secret weapons were prayer and the Word. When we face opposition of any kind at work or anywhere else in our walk, like Daniel we can turn to God our reliable source first before we go to HR or anyone else. When God rescued Daniel from the lions his boss king Darius could not help but praise Daniel’s God because he witnessed the power of the true God.
The Lord says in Jeremiah 33: 3 “Ask me and I will tell you remarkable secrets you do not know about things to come. ”Daniel was gifted with understanding of visions, and dreams, but because he seriously spent time with God, deep secrets were revealed to him. We may not be like Daniel but the amazing thing is that God can use each one of us as we walk in obedience to Him.
Pray your response to the Lord personally, meaningfully and genuinely
Reflection: What is your first reaction when you have been falsely accused or are facing a very challenging situation in your life?
