The Radiant Light

But while I am here in the world, I am the Light of the world.” John 9:5

The natural light plays an important role in our daily lives such as improving our productivity, and focus, helping our body clock keep time, giving us a clear view and generally enabling our wellbeing and many other benefits.

Jesus, the greatest Light in John 8:12 said “I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won’t have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life.” It is so easy to lose sight of what’s to come when things are so difficult in the here and now.  Our focus should be continually fixed on our champion and returning King!  May we continue to stay true to our Savior and grow in faith daily.

Once and for all, Jesus fulfilled Isaiah's prophecy; he is the light of the world. When the angel of the Lord appeared to the shepherds, the demonstration happened, the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were frightened. Immanuel shines brightest on the darkest of days in our lives. Hope lives within our hearts enabling us to shine bright so that others see Jesus. We allow light to shine through our actions and behavior.

God is the source of all the good we have and all the good we crave for.  He does not change when our circumstances change and to Him darkness and light don’t make a difference. One of God’s qualities is being "immutable" (unchangeable) “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.” Hebrews 13:8. And in Malachi 3:6 He says, “I am the Lord, and I do not change.”  While everything around us is changing so rapidly, we can truly depend on God's grace, love, and compassion. He does not change in essence, character nor purpose.

Jesus is the shining light during these uncertain and unpredictable times. Our light shines brightest when we are authentic in our actions. As Christ’s ambassadors on earth we shine even without knowing as we represent Him. Being the light means reflecting His love, bringing hope, and doing good works, which benefits others by revealing truth, offering comfort, and guiding them toward God.

Pray your response to the Lord personally, meaningfully and genuinely!

Reflection:

How can you exercise your faith and be a shining light in the midst of your present circumstances?
