`Who are You?

So we are Christ’s ambassadors; God is making his appeal through us. We speak for Christ when we plead, “Come back to God!” 2 Corinthians 5:20

Have you ever been asked, “who are you”? What was your response?  Well Jesus was asked the same question and this verse says it all: “Are you greater than our father Abraham? He died, and so did the prophets. Who do you think you are?” John 4:12

When Moses was assigned a task that he felt was beyond his ability and he asked the question, “Who am I?” He was feeling insecure.  Perhaps at some point you were assigned a task beyond your ability or asked the same question. God was well aware of the misery of the Israelites in Egypt and decided to deliver them. As far as God was concerned Moses was the best candidate for the job. But Moses displayed insecurity from his response as in Exodus 3:11

Moses was unwilling, expressed his inadequacy, and feared rejection by the Israelites and Pharaoh, he said he was not eloquent and was incompetent. It appears that he had a relapse and forgot the ability of God. That he can heal our insecure attachments wounds - Zephaniah 3:17 reminds us this “For the Lord your God is living among you.  He is a mighty Savior. He will take delight in you with gladness.  With his love, he will calm all your fears, He will rejoice over you with joyful songs.”  He is always present, attentive and turns toward us.  We can talk to Him about our insecurities at any time.

Have you ever been afraid of rejection? Has God ever asked you to trust him or share your faith with someone and you were afraid? He is the one who gives us the ability to respond His way.

In the end Moses became a hero for the Israelites because of his obedience to God, not because of his natural abilities or qualifications. We all have some form of insecure attachments in our lives. But when we surrender to God and walk in obedience, he gives us the ability to overcome and become what He initially created us to be. He has given us the Holy Spirit to guide us. To enable us realize the healing of our wounds. Psalm 55:22 reminds us to: “Give your burdens to the Lord, and he will take care of you. He will not permit the godly to slip and fall.

Pray your response to the Lord personally, meaningfully and genuinely.

Reflect:

Can you identify some of your insecure attachments you tend to display in your life that hinder you from being who God wants you to be.

Who are you are you? What defines you? Why do you matter?
