Being Present in His Presence

If you watch the leaves during the Fall season, they simply fall dancing in the wind before touching the earth! They simply follow the flow as they fall.  We are invited to simply be present in the moment! We may not be able to control our worries but we can trust God in us to help us through them His way!

A month ago, the leaves were, lovely, attractive, green and served the purpose for that season. In as much as they are still changing color at the moment and really looking spectacular and beautiful in the fall colors, their purpose is slowly coming to an end. It is like the trees are releasing burdens as they shade their leaves slowly transitioning into the next season.  This serves as a metaphor for change, letting go of habits, worries or busyness that no longer serve the current purpose! Paul says it so well in Philippians 3:13: …”but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead.”

Although these may be times of unsettling transitions autumn’s shifting weather, the colorful transformations remind us that God remains steady and reliable.  When life is continually changing day by day He is still present in His creation and has never left and he is doing what he has always done.  In Psalm 147:4 David reminds us that “He counts the stars and calls each by name and they are trillions of them in his creation! That just reveals to us the character of our Creator God,  who is always present.  That should inspire us to trust Him and have confidence because he is the only one who knows what tomorrow will be like.  We may be in the unknown but He is with us there and in total control!

In Psalm 46:1 David says that: “God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.” He is always present because over and over again we are reminded in the Bible that he is present everywhere at all times! So why do we worry? What should our posture be like?  In Him we are assured of a safety net we can fully count on each day!

Pray: Your response to the Lord personally, meaningfully and genuinely.

Reflect:

The past might demand our attention, but God’s grace continually calls us forward. We can confront our insecure attachments, fears and the stories we tell ourselves that would want us to hold us back from God’s best!
