Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take. Proverbs 3: 5-6

Can you imagine going on the road without a google map or any other familiarity to assist with the road ahead of you?  Well, soon or later you’ll reach a point where you have no sense of direction! Those who have experienced this before have found that it can be frustrating and a waste of time! We know that technology provides quick and easy navigation for the road when properly used. How about when we look at it from the perspective of our Christian faith journeys?

If ever you’ve used a tour guide, you probably discovered that they can make a not so interesting place sound so important even when it is not, and it’s just because they have acquired the qualities to do so. Well, what about when we have the Creator of the universe who knows everything in it’s entirety as our guide? Holding on and trusting God with all our hearts and not leaning on our own understanding is true foundational faith. He will give us wisdom to chart the right path.

Generally, good confidence is having strong belief or full assurance about one’s own abilities, correctness, successful feeling, being sure of yourself and your abilities, not in an arrogant way, but in a realistic, secure way. Well, God provides evidence of Himself and His trustworthiness before expecting us to believe in Him, to have faith and put our trust in Him.  He speaks, acts, delivers, reveals Himself and always provides evidence and then gives us the choice to have faith. Having confidence in asking ourselves questions like: Is my heart healthy to give and receive or is it closed and walled off. Only God’s Spirit can break down our walls to enable us to hear God.  Psalm 139:14 says ”Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous – how well I know it.”  This is expressing praise to God for His intricate and amazing creation of each individual, recognizing the unique design in His creation.

We have every good reason to trust God, allowing him to linger with us in our various unique spaces which begins with a commitment of trust.  God cannot lead us where we will not follow.  We need to grow our desire for His instruction and guidance and when we allow him to lead us it will not be cumbersome.  He gives us the desire for His instructions and guidance to enable us walk in obedience through His Word. “Open my eyes to see the wonderful truths in your instructions” – Psalm 119:18.

Take time to listen, pray your response to the Lord personally, meaningfully and genuinely!

Reflect:

What is one step, you can take to hear God and walk in wisdom this week?

How can you be stimulated by God’s Word today?
