Wait, Just Wait!

But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. Isaiah 40:31
Isaiah proclaims of God's unmatched power as Creator and His meticulous care for creation, encouraging us weary believers to trust in God’s sovereignty. He highlights that God calls the stars by name and not even one is missing. If He sustains the universe, he created, he personally knows and cares for his children even much more. This calls us to stop focusing on our problems but instead look at the sky and shift focus on God’s majesty. Being able to identify every star by name and there are trillions of them shows that no one or nothing is forgotten, he is intimately aware of our personal struggles and will not lose track as Isaiah 40:26 clearly explains.
God continues to ask questions: To whom will you compare me? Who is my equal? He then introduces himself as the Everlasting God, The Creator of all the earth, he never grows tired, weak or weary and no one can measure the depths of his understanding. He is the one inviting us this week to wait and just wait and when we do so we will see what He is able to do. In your waiting period what are you doing? Like a waiter anticipates the needs of a table, waiting on God involves being highly attentive, looking for His direction, and listening for His voice.
He promises to feed His flock like a shepherd does. He will carry the lambs in his arms, holding them close to his heart. The promises are for those who wait on him, relying upon His strength instead of exhaustion. He promises a supernatural replenishment of energy in difficult times. The metaphor “soaring on wings like eagles” indicates rising above difficult circumstances, gaining a higher perspective, and living with renewed confidence and freedom, supported by God. I can’t help but notice that God personally takes the responsibility to invite us to do what will be to our advantage as He says “just wait’! That is to actively trust and hope rather than just passing time.
Pray your response to the Lord personally, meaningfully and genuinely.
Reflection:
Do I rely on my limited stamina during overwhelming periods in life or depend on God?
Does the delay shape my patience, faith, and reliance on Him rather than just waiting for a specific answer but allow Him to work in His timing!
