A Thought!

God’s still small voice speaks to our inner person. These are some of the ways he uses: being reminded of a particular verse or passage of scripture, an inner impression, pictures or visions, bringing a particular thought or memory to mind; a particular feeling or emotions, His peace, an audible voice; dreams or any other way He may choose.

We can identify the quality of God’s voice. He affirms, encourages and is gentle. It is always in alignment with God’s Word and the fruit of the Spirit and will always draw us into deeper intimacy with him.  He may convict us of sin to draw us closer to Him but will not condemn us. The enemy’s voice can be accusing, cause feelings of hopelessness, worthlessness, despair - opposite to God’s voice. Our own voice would be in line with the desires of our flesh, like a strong personal desire.  Scripture helps us discern God’s voice, the enemy’s and our own. The process of listening involves taking a step of faith and practice in prayer to connect us to God.

David reminds us in Psalm 139:17 that God’s thoughts are precious and cannot be numbered.  They are valuable and uncountable! So if we take time and listen, He will give us valuable thoughts. That’s how special we are to Him! Prayer is a two-way conversation. As we pray the Holy Spirit may whisper a thought, or whichever way he may choose. Our God is not limited, he is multilingual and awesome He can speak to us in any language he chooses. He can speak by reminding us of a scripture in line with His thoughts or we can hear him by reading his Word. He is Omniscient (all-knowing) at all times.  In the Bible He has invited us to listen to him over 1,000 times. It is so amazing to know that He loves and longs to speak with us everyday. So the choice is for us to connect with Him in any way the Holy Spirit leads.

Pray: Your response to the Lord personally, meaningfully and genuinely.

Reflect:

God knows all our mistakes, yet He still loves and accepts us and is open to speak to us.

His thoughts towards us today are constant, innumerable and wonderful!
