That Word

Scripture is the Word of God. We learn about the character of God from scripture. Beginning from Genesis to Revelation God is actively speaking to us. Right from the start, God spoke with Adam and Eve, Noah, Abraham, Moses, Samuel, David, Mary, the Prophets and many others. The Bible say “All scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness.” 2 Timothy 3:16

Wait! Does what you think you’re hearing contradict the Word of God in anyway? The Bible has many instances where God spoke to His people.   The word (Shema in Hebrew – Listen) appears in scriptures over 1,000 times. So, we should carefully consider what the Bible says, and dig into the Word. Ask, does what you think you are hearing contradict the character of God or His Word in any way?

“In Mark 4:24 we are reminded to: “Pay close attention to what you hear. The closer you listen, the more understanding you will be given and you will receive even more. The question we should ask is: What is the quality of God’s voice? It should be loving, affirming, encouraging, gentle. Always in 100% alignment with the revealed written Word, the Bible. It is must also be in alignment with the fruit of the Spirit. “But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness.” Galatians 5:22-23

John 1:14 says: “So the Word became human and made his home among us. He was full of unfailing love and faithfulness. And we have seen his glory, the glory of the Father’s one and only Son.  God speaks to us as we read His Word. Do we listen to hear Him as we read the Word.

When reading the Word of God; still and quiet yourself before God. Ask Jesus to communicate; wait in silence for God’s communication; As you read the Word write down the impressions. While reading the Word,  be aware that God is always speaking.  So, the question to ask is that: “As we read God’s Word are we listening to what He is saying to us?”

Pray: Your response to the Lord personally, meaningfully and genuinely.

Reflect: As you read this, what is one thing God speaking to you about?
