Safety in God’s shelter is for the sake of gaining what we need and when we need it. We have a wonderful promise of protection through God’s everlasting presence. Scripture is so powerful but it becomes more powerful when we speak it out and apply it daily in our lives. We are reminded in Romans 8:32 that God did not spare even his own Son but gave him up for us all, won’t he also give us everything else.” This includes our protection.
We can be sheltered for protection from storms, missiles or adverse conditions. I am reminded of the story of Jesus and the disciples during the storm where they were panicking yet they were not perishing because Jesus was in the boat. The writer of Psalm 91 reminds us the amazing things we can witness when we take refuge in God.
But what is even greater is that even when He allows us to go through the difficult things, he is with us because we are His, just as he was with Daniel in the den of lions, Joseph in Egypt and even the Hebrew boys in the fiery furnace! What really matters is when we dwell in God’s presence as we live our lives daily. Psalms 24: 10 says …”He is Lord of Heavens Armies, the King of glory! He is capable of handling any storm his way. Nothing the enemy dishes out goes unanswered by the Word of God!
Sometimes news bombard us with possible dangers, from phone scams to burglaries to hackers on social media. No matter our age or stage of life, our safety is only in trusting God. Sometimes in our efforts to “stay safe,” we erect walls that keep us from the people Jesus called us to reach. But we just have to ask for wisdom and diligence and remember that our mission is to point others to the cross. He remains our shelter and refuge at all times.
For our safety, He also reminds us in Ephesians 6: 11 to be dressed in the armor of God daily to be able to stand against all strategies of the devil. Spending time in His presence daily will enable us to find the protection we need everyday. When God steps in, the story changes! He humiliates those who appear strong by using the weak.
Pray your response to the Lord personally, meaningfully and genuinely!
Reflection:
How does knowing God is with you change how you approach each day?

Cathy, yes! Knowing God is always with us changes everything; our fears, our thoughts, our love, our actions? He is an amazing God.
